My father died 5 years ago of Laryngeal cancer at the age of 63 years. It was an overwhelming grief we experienced as a family since my father was the best father and the best husband to my mom.
My father was beyond description. He loved us so much. He spent time with us. He was always there to listen and understand us. He was ever ready to defend and protect us from getting hurt.
He was called "tatay" ( daddy) to his nephews and nieces. Many of his nephews and nieces really looked up to him. There were others who even confessed to us that "tatay" had filled the void in the absence of their biological father. True enough he loved his nephews and nieces dearly that a month before his death, he went to visit each one of them to their homes. And later we found out that they were included in his prayer list. Their names were literraly written in his notebook as people to pray for. Praise God that many of my cousins are now coming to know Christ. There were others who truly found Christ during his burial. He was also called "tatay" in the christian community.
'Tatay" may not be a dynamic preacher but he was so anointed in personal evangelism. When he shared the word of God there was never a soul who would not be convicted and in tears after. He was a man full of compassion. He was always ready to help if you need a helping hand without expecting anything in return. He was a man of wisdom. Many people would seek his advice may it be about family issues, spiritual or financial issues and even about politics. A few of his friends who were in politics used to regularly visit him in his office and seek his opinions. I think many people like him because he was a genuine, sincere, humble ,thoughtful and caring person. I am so grateful to God for giving me a one in a million "tatay".
To my "tatay" Dad:
Thank you so much......
You will always be remembered....
I miss you....
I love you so much...
Happy Father's Day!
