Yummy Sunday 14: No cook chocolate Truffle

Posted by Laureen at Sunday, November 29, 2009 8 comments

I have tried making chocolate truffle for the first time during Z's birthday. I saw how to make this recipe from my son's Hi 5 video before. I thought of including this in my son's birthday menu for it is easy to make and it also looks yummy.

While I was making the chocolate truffle my nephew, Renzee was around to help me. He enjoyed shaping the truffles and at the same time putting some into his mouth.Lol! He liked it so much that 2 days after that he requested his Ate to make for their snacks.

I would like to share this truffle recipe for you to try to make along with your kids.We are also planning to teach this to our preschoolers at Little evangel Christian School.

2 pks ground chocolate graham biscuits or ace biscuits

1 big can condensed milk

1 pk marshmallow at least 30-35 pcs

1 pk desecated coconut

Very easy to make in just 3 steps:

1.Just mix the ground chocolate graham biscuites and condensed milk.

2.Form it into balls with one marshmallow at the center.

3.Then roll it in the dessicated coconut then

Have fun making and eating....

A Video Contest

Posted by Laureen at Monday, November 23, 2009 1 comments

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Incendia Health. All opinions are 100% mine.

I've heard that there is one great iLASIK Video Contest that has 5,000$ for grabs. I'm actually not fond of joining contests. I guess it's because I've never won any contests in my whole life. But my sister is now fond of joining contest. She only started to join contests after winning a trip to Thailand. Maybe if I have more time and more motivation, I would try to join contests.

About the video contest with 5,000$ as the grand prize, it's actually a contest by Abbott Medical Optics Inc. They launched the “You Gotta See This” Video Contest, inviting entrants to make a video showing the impact of improved vision, for a chance to win cash and prizes.

What are the prizes?

The Prizes
$5,000 Grand Prize

First Prize (one in each video category):
HDTV package — a $2,500 value

Second Prize (one in each video category):
The Flip UltraHD™ camcorder — a $199.99 value

What you have to do?

Just submit a video in any of the following categories:

• “My contacts are getting in the way of my good time”
• “My favorite sport or activity would be so much cooler with better vision”
• “You should see life after the iLASIK® Procedure”

Then, tell your friends to vote for the video you submitted.

Then you get the chance to win any of the above prizes. Cool!

Birthday Treat at School

Posted by Laureen at Saturday, November 21, 2009 0 comments
My son, Z also celebrated his birthday in school. He didn't have a birthday party but we just prepared snacks, loot bags and give aways on that day. Our school doesn't allow birthday parties during classes anymore.

Before we allowed parties at School but there are other parents who could not afford to have such. So, it would be unfair and a sad experience for those children since they cannot avoid comparing themselves with others. There were even instances that the teachers were the ones who spent for children who couldn't afford to have parties. There were also times that the school didn't have time for classes anymore for there were weeks that the pupils celebrated their birthdays on successive days. So that's the reason we don't allow parties anymore, we just snacks and goodies during break time.

Anyways, Z boy was so happy on that day that he exclaimed, "Mom May,Daddy,This is the best birthday ever!!!..." When we asked why, he said, "Because I had 2 celebrations"

But Wait....the celebration actually did not end in the school. Z boy's Granny also gave a treat to Z boy's teachers who also happens to be my 2nd degree cousins.Lol!

wfw #18 - Altars

Genesis 26:25 "Isaac built an altar there and called on the name of the Lord. There he pitched his tent, and there his servants dug a well."

An altar is where you meet God. It can be a rock you kneel beside in the woods, in a quiet spot in your home or beside your desk at the office. The where is not important. Doing it is the vital thing. You can make an altar anywhere as you lay your life open to Him and meet Him.

5th Birthday

Posted by Laureen at Saturday, November 14, 2009 1 comments
Last October 25t, my son, Z boy celebrated his 5th birthday. Since that day was Sunday we held the celebration at Church during Sunday school for the children. We had an outdoor celebration since we don't have a room for our Children's Sunday School yet. We are still praying for a room for the children since our church was just built this year out of faith.

The theme of Z's birthday was Bugs Bunny. So we tried to prepare everything according to the Bugs Bunny theme.

The kids really enjoyed everything about the party: the food, games, loot bags they received, the "pabitin" and the prizes.

I truly thank God for giving us our son Z or Zif Azriel . His name Zif is a constant reminder to us of God's splendor and Azriel for God is absolutely our aid.

The kids are so excited to get prizes from the "Pabitin"

Z boy was so happy to receive gifts.

The food that I prepared.

Games hosted by Teacher Jun

More games..

WFW # 17 -Nation

Posted by Laureen at Tuesday, November 10, 2009 10 comments
This picture was taken during the United Nations Celebration of Little Evangel Christian School where Zboy, my son is schooling.
Matthew 28:18-20 "Jesus came and told his disciples" I have been given complete authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
We are to go....whether it is next door or to another country--and make disciples. It is not an option but a command to all who call Jesus "Lord". We are not all evangelists in the formal sense, but we have all received gifts that we can use to help fulfill the great commission. As we obey, we have confidence in knowledge that Jesus is always with us.

United Nation Celebration

Posted by Laureen at Monday, November 09, 2009 3 comments
Oct 24,2009 was the United Nation celebration of our school. The United Nations Celebration is one of the most awaited event of the year for the parents because they will be able to dress up their kids and let them represent the different countries of the world.

My son, Z boy represented the Country of Norway. It was quite amusing how I came up with his Norwegian costume, other parents spent much for their kids costume but for me I thank God for the provision. I just used some of Z boys existing clothes and borrowed his jacket, pants and hat. So, I ended up only spending P60 for his socks. LOL!

Thanks to Kuya Daniels coat( son of my best friend),Ate Rienyel's pants and Kuya Renzee's hat(Z's cousins)

I'm so proud of Z.He really did well during his presentation.

That's me doing the welcome address. Yes,the school staff also wore costumes.Lol!

Here is Z wearing his cowboy costume. The students also danced the different dances for the countries but this picture was taken after the dance. Sorry I was not able to take picture for I was busy helping the other kids prepare for their presentation while my husband was taking the video. They also sung the "Jesus love the little children" in Thai,Malay Tamil Indian and English version. Thanks to Jesu, my brother in law who took time to translate the song.We also took the chance to pray for the Nations.

It was indeed a glorious celebration.God bless all nations of the world.

YS #12- Z's Birthday Cakes

Posted by Laureen at Saturday, November 07, 2009 9 comments

Hello! It's Yummy Sunday once again and my entry for today is Z's birthday cakes last Oct.25,2009. I choose this entry because I want to share some tips on how to have an instant and cheap yet nice and fun themed birthday cakes.

Here is what I did for my son's birthday cakes;

I just bought a simple ready made birthday cake and requested the bakeshop to spray the cake with the color of my choice. They agreed and asked me to add P20 as an add on. I also instructed them also not to write anything nor decorate the cake with flowers.

Then, I bought the cake decorations of my chosen theme and just arranged it nicely on the ready made birthday cake. So, that's my secret. I get to have an inexpensive themed birthday cakes for my kids!

This was Z's Birthday cake during his simple party at sunday school in church. The theme was Bugs Bunny.

This was his birthday cake at school the following day.The theme was Sponge Bob.

Do you notice the styrofoam "happy birthday" banner on both the cakes? Yes, I just recycled it from the Bugs Bunny cake.

For the second cake, the person I requested to get the cake from the bakeshop mistakenly asked the sales lady to write the greetings on the cake. I was shocked when I saw the writings on the cake but I thank God for his wisdom because I was able to do something about it. Do you notice the red color on the center that was the 'writing' but I used the fork to make a design out of it. :)

wfw #16 - Looking Back

Posted by Laureen at Wednesday, November 04, 2009 5 comments

Luke 9:23 "Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me."

Nobody can find the victory, the joy, and the power to live as God intends us to live until he makes the decision, unconditional and without reservation, to walk with God. There is strength and power to move forward, to refuse to look back, going for it no matter what happens.

Page Rank Back

Posted by Laureen at Sunday, November 01, 2009 2 comments
My cousin just informed me that my blog's Page Rank is back!Thank God! I'm so glad that it's back even though there's no assurance that it would stay here for a long time. But for bloggers like me, getting a high page rank is important. It does signify that ones site is at least noticed by Google. :)

My sister has told me about getting my own domain and having it self hosted. I'm not very familiar with web hosting but I did found a site that has helpful information about this. The site somehow gives a comprehensive list on different web hosting providers. Different web hosting providers are given according to your list of specifications. Let's say you want the cheapest web host provider, then a list of all the cheap providers will be given. If you want the best web host provider, then another comprehensive list will also be given.

I'm not thinking about getting my own domain or web host for now. I guess I'll only think about that once I have more time to be online and more time to take care of my blog. As for now, I'm just looking around for some basic information. And maybe just maybe, I'll consider my sister's suggestion next time.
